Frosty Painted Sugar Cookies

This a great modern approach to flooding ‘n’ frosting regular ol’ cookies with Royal Icing.  I simply cut out rounds with a fluted, round biscuit/pastry cutter for the sugar dough.  Then, I rolled out fondant and cut out a smaller size fluted round to go on top of the cookie.  I simply just glued it on with water: nothing fancy.  You could also do this with Royal Icing by flooding the cookie, but you have to make sure it’s a flat ‘n’ smooth surface to paint on and flooding the cookie, just takes a while to dry. The painting medium I used is a mixture of white Gel Paste food color and different shades of blues ‘n’ greys.  To get the truest silver, I like to use grey and then dust it with edible pearl luster.

Get inspired by different color schemes, go to your local department store and check out the Holiday decor, it would look great in purples, pinks etc.  Take pictures of prints and designs that you like and transform these cookies into edible pieces of art.
